Isle Mill

Stix Recycled Wool Blanket in Barley

A herringbone throw in soft barley tones, edged with a contrasting border and finished with purled fringes.

I source these from Isle Mill, part of the family-run Macnaughton Group, which has been weaving in Perthshire since 1783. Stix is woven from wool-rich yarn, and more than half of that wool is recycled. It shows how one of Scotland’s oldest textile businesses is making things to last without always starting from new wool.

It’s a generous size for the end of a bed or the back of a sofa, and slightly chunkier than some of my blankets - sturdy enough to take outdoors for picnics, the beach or the car.
