Handmade Oval Shopping Basket

Anna Liebmann is extraordinary. She grows her own willow here in Scotland, harvests it, and weaves it into the most wonderful pieces, from the simplest willow star right up to stunning log baskets that have been exhibited in galleries.

Please note: Anna is relocating her workshop, so baskets ordered now may take up to 8 months to reach you. Her usual lead time is shown below and will return once she's settled.

A classic oval shopping basket, made using traditional techniques, that will last a lifetime. The sides have a beautiful flow, and it's so comfy to carry on your arm, even with a good weight in it.

The base is made in the underfoot way, using sturdy willows, and some of the sides wrap into the handle, making it really strong.

It's an adaptation of a heritage British design. Anna says, 'What I was amazed at when I first tried the dimensions was how well it fits the human body. The design has probably been worked out and refined over hundreds of years.'

Made entirely from organically grown Scottish willow from Anna's patch in Lanarkshire, it carries the Scottish Working Woods label.

As each basket is made to order, it usually takes about 16 weeks. 46 x 30cm (18" x 12"), 33cm with handles (13").

Delivery: This is one of the few pieces sent to you directly by the maker, rather than by me, so it will arrive separately from anything else you order. Delivery is £10, as free delivery on orders over £70 doesn't apply to willow.
