Amanda Wells Gairloch Fluted Wooden Lamp Base

A hand-turned, fluted hardwood lamp base by Amanda Wells, painted or polished and assembled in her studio in East Lothian. It comes in six colours, from ocean blue and mulberry red to chalk white and a natural polish.

Amanda named the Gairloch after the village on the shores of Loch Gairloch in Wester Ross, in the North-West Highlands. She spent happy childhood holidays there and now goes back with her own children whenever she can.

Natural paint

Most of the bases are finished in an old-fashioned milk paint, a traditional organic paint that is non-toxic and low-odour, with no chemical preservatives, fungicides or petroleum derivatives. The natural polish finish shows the grain of the wood.

Size and fitting

  • Height 45.5cm, base diameter 15cm
  • Wired with a standard UK plug and a switched B22 (bayonet) lamp holder
