Description

Limited-edition handmade soap developed in collaboration with Lind & Lime Gin scented with Lime, Juniper and Coriander Essential Oils. Lind & Lime Gin is produced in Edinburgh’s historic distilling district of Leith. The award-winning gin is distilled with a carefully curated recipe of seven botanicals including lime, juniper & coriander.    SCENT: Fresh, bright citrus with a spicy twist   A unique handmade soap developed in collaboration with Edinburgh's iconic Lind & Lime Gin, made just a couple of miles away in Edinburgh’s historic, port district of Leith. This soap was inspired by both the botanicals used in Lind & Lime’s unique (and delicious!) gin and by their iconic ridged bottle.   Lime essential oil is a critical part of the mix:  it packs a powerful fresh citrus punch in our soap’s scent.  This citrus fruit also hold a very important place in the creation of this unique Edinburgh gin. The ‘Lind’ in name of the gin is in fact Dr Lind – and Edinburgh based doctor, who in the 1740s conducted one the world’s first clinical trials and discovered the beneficial effects of including citrus fruits in the diet of sailors.  Following this discovery limes were then issued to British sailors, many of whom were in the docks in Leith, to counter the scurvy and malnutrition that sailors suffered in the 18th Century.  This very special handmade soap is ridged to reflect the distinctive shape and feel of the glass bottle which houses Lind & Lime gin.  The colour and gradient also reflects the green-aqua of the recycled glass made especially for this gin.   KEY INGREDIENTS: Lime, Juniper & Coriander Essential Oils These very special soaps have a very particular scent profile. The scent is fresh and fruity with a bright citrus balanced with more complex spicy notes of juniper and coriander. Strongly inspired by the beautiful Lind & Lime gin, (but it doesn’t smell or feel like you’re washing yourself with a gin & tonic!)   Sicilian Sea Salt We've chosen Sicilian Sea Salt in this handmade soap bar. This has all the benefits of our other Himalayan Salt Soaps, but with a smoother, gentler feel.  This salt’s pure, white colour reflects the tones of the beautiful Lind & Lime gin bottle and complements the blue tones of the soap. Unrefined fine sea salt comes from the salt-works of the Trapani nature reserve on the island of Sicily. It is unrefined and is not chemically treated so this salt retains all its natural trace minerals. "Our saltpan, active since 1884 is situated within the nature reserve of Trapani run by the WWF. It is usually frequented by different migrant species and it also gives hospitality to purple herons and grey parrots." Helen from dook visited Trapani in the summer of 2023 – find out more about the salt and her visit here.   HOW TO USE: Create a rich lather by rubbing the handmade soap bar between your hands and wash with the luxurious foam. For direct application consider using a cotton soap bag to protect your skin from the mildly scratchy salt grains.   HOW TO STORE: The best place to store your boxed soap is somewhere warm, dry, and well-ventilated. If your soap becomes damp, it is because the salt has absorbed atmospheric humidity. Don’t worry, it doesn't damage the soap at all but it can damage the biodegradable packaging.  Once you’ve unwrapped your handmade soap, we recommend using a soap dish to store the bar next to your sink or shower. All of these soap dishes will provide adequate drainage and airflow extending the life of your natural soap bar.   FULL INGREDIENTS LIST:  Sodium Cocoate (Saponified Coconut Oil), Sodium Sheabutterate (Saponified Shea Butter), Maris Sal (Sea Salt), Aqua (Water), (Coriandrum Sativum (Coriander) Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Glycerin, Juniperus Communis (Juniper) Fruit Oil.
