The Leddie, Aberlady: One of East Lothian's Best Restaurants

Tucked away in the coastal village of Aberlady, The Leddie is one of East Lothian’s most exciting new openings - it's been open less than a year. Housed in a beautifully restored 17th-century inn, it’s a relaxed spot where great food, thoughtful design, and a great atmosphere come together perfectly.

A Stylish but Unpretentious Setting

The interiors strike just the right balance between classic and contemporary. You'll find  deep greens and soft teals in the interiors with a roaring fire and inviting armchairs that make it the kind of place you’ll want to linger. There’s a quiet confidence to the design, a sense that every detail has been carefully considered. Yet it doesn't feel over-styled or that too-common tartan greige you find in so many pub hotels.

A Menu That Champions Local Produce

At the heart of The Leddie is its restaurant, where Head Chef Shaun Lund puts East Lothian’s rich larder front and centre. Expect dishes that feel fresh and unfussy, with a focus on top-quality local ingredients. The menu changes with the seasons, but we've heard kedgeree croquettes with curried mayo and the standout Leddie beef burger were a hit. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served, making it a great place for weekend brunch too.

What the Foodies Say

The Leddie has already collected a few accolades, with The Guardian naming it one of the UK’s top foodie destinations for autumn. The Times has praised its relaxed coastal charm and the quality of the food. It’s a hit with locals and a destination worth travelling to from further afield.

What Does It Cost?

Main dishes in the restaurant begin at around £16 which is good value considering the quality of the ingredients and how beautiful the setting is.

Why Go?

Whether you’re after a long lunch after a coastal walk, a weekend escape staying in the lovely rooms (that's another post!), or just a cosy coffee by the fire, The Leddie is the perfect place. It’s relaxed but stylish, charming, and well worth a visit.
